The new food and beverage outlet AM Kitchen located near the bus terminal opened earlier this week but has limited its initial menu to serving juices and coffee pending hygiene and sanitation approval to start serving food.

“We need time in order to sterilize and clean the kitchen as well as the equipment,” said Abdullah Ibrahim, AM Kitchen’s assistant manager.

Ibrahim also said that they were working on maintenance and plumbing problems, as well as redecorating, because previous food outlet, Bananas, left immediately after their contract with the Office of Food and Services terminated.

AM Kitchen, which first opened in Zamalek, will serve three kinds of coffee: Lavazza, Illy, and fresh homemade roasted coffee beans, “in order to satisfy all the coffee lovers,” Ibrahim added.

The food outlet plans to soon serve soups, salads, sandwiches, light snacks, bagels, and wraps. Prices will range from EGP 5 for a plain bagel to EGP 28 for a Chef Salad.

“We want to target everyone on campus even the dorm students, but our problem is that there isn’t any transportation available at night for our workers,” Ibrahim added.
