Inside Out

By: Janus Engel

Janus Engel was a student at the Aarhus Danish School of Journalism, Denmark but spent the Fall 2016 semester in the Journalism and Mass Communication department here at AUC. As part of his photojournalism class, he decided to contrast the lives of different parts of Cairo. His project compares an upper class family from the suburban belt in Cairo to lower socio-economic communities in the Manshiyat Nasser district. The photographs masterfully capture these diverse, distant worlds that rarely meet and simply follows the lives of two polarized families to document daily life in this mega city.
