AUC Senate Chair Sends Apology Letter

Following a Caravan article about recent heated debates in the AUC Senate (Animated Senate Session Ends in Frustration – November 16), Chair Pandeli Glavanis issued an apology for some of the comments he made.

Dear Senators and University Colleagues,

I am writing to express my most sincere apologies for the comments quoted in the last issue of the Caravan that indicated that I regarded the Senate as incompetent following the last meeting.

I have always been a strong supporter of the Senate and have dedicated my energy to make it an integral part of the AUC governance despite many obstacles.

The events that transpired at the last meeting caused a high degree of frustration as I could see that we were unable to move forward and deal with the many critical issues facing the faculty at AUC.  The Caravan interview, which caught me completely off guard, recorded a feeling of extreme frustration and not my actual feelings.

I sincerely apologize for this statement and I retract and apologize unreservedly for what I said.  I can assure you that I will dedicate all of my energy to the enhancement of the Senate role in governance at AUC and its integrity.
